Apple has said macOS 27 is the last version with general Rosetta support. EQ8 for Mac relies on Rosetta today, and EQ has said it plans to have a solution in place before macOS 28. Whatever happens, Quarter Inch will open your EQ8 projects on your Mac, your iPad or any browser, so your quilts are never tied to one computer.

Is Quarter Inch an EQ8 alternative?

It can be. Quarter Inch is quilt design software for Mac, iPad and the web that will open your EQ8 projects. Use it instead of EQ8, or alongside it.

Do I have to stop using EQ8?

No. Keep using it for as long as you like, and use both.

Can I open .pj8 files without EQ8?

Yes. Quarter Inch will open your .pj8 files by itself, so you won’t need EQ8 installed to see, print or keep designing your quilts.

Will my fabrics come across?

Your colorings will. Solids will be matched to the nearest color-card shade, shown side by side so you can check.

Does it work on Windows?

Yes. Quarter Inch will run in any modern browser, so your Windows projects will open there, or on an iPad.

Is it allowed to open my own files?

Yes. They’re your designs. Quarter Inch will read the files you’ve saved and never change your originals.

What does it cost to open them?

Nothing. Opening and viewing your EQ8 projects will be free, with a report for every file.
